Henrik Vibskov and Andreas Emenius are both graduates from Central Saint Martins.
In 2007 after collaborating on some other projects, they began working on
'The Fringe Series' , a series of work exploring illusion, surface, and movement. Story slowly emerging.
The fringe project number 4, ``The making of the fringy soundcake´´, Jan 31, in Rotterdam. At the Gallery NieuweOntwerpers.
We have some pictures of the Performance which ended by eating the cake and listening fringy music.
This projects came up after watching the Soviet sci-fi drama Solaris (Andrei Tarkovsky, 1972). There’s a scene with a cosmonaut inouter space attaching fringes to a fan to create a soundeffect that reminds himof life back on planet earth.
The universes produced often have little or no referenceto everyday life situations on this planet, but they share a certain discomfort with too controlled environments.
Repetition shows up one more time!
